Karl W. Barnstead, resident of Swampscott, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers with his family by his side.He was 64.
Karl was born on May 7, 1954 in Melrose, one of three children of the late George W. and Edna M. (Carleton) Barnstead.Karl grew up in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High.He enjoyed playing sports in his younger years, especially hockey, baseball, and softball.On June 28, 1975, he and Pamela J. Sterling were married.
A devoted family man, Karl worked hard to provide for them, and he instilled that work ethic in his children.He would do anything for his children and beloved Pamela.
Among Karl's other interests were reading mystery novels, cooking, watching westerns, and bowling.He had a love affair with muscle cars, particularly a '69 Mercury Cougar.
Karl was a kind man who took pride in his family.He will be deeply missed.
Karl is the beloved husband of Pamela J. (Sterling) Barnstead with whom he shared 43 Years of Marriage.Devoted father of Amanda and Michael Barnstead, both of Swampscott.Loving brother of Carol M. Barnstead of Melrose and the late Raymond E. Barnstead.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Karl's life at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, for his Funeral Service celebrated on Thursday, March 14th at 10am.
