Mr. Kenneth A. "Ken" Bennett, a resident of Stoneham, died suddenly on Monday, May 31, 2010, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.He was 66 years old.Mr. Bennett was born on June 4, 1943 in Malden, one of two sons of the late William Bennett and Adrianna (Baldi) Corby.
Kenneth or "Ken" as he was affectionately known was raised and educated in Malden.In 1964, he entered the National Guard and served for 6 years.He was a valued employee for 44 years at the A.W. Chesterton Company in Stoneham where he worked as a traffic manager and facilities manager.
Ken had a strong love and appreciation for music.He enjoyed singing "a capella" and was a doo-wop music aficionado.He was a member of an "a capella" group, the Fortunes, and frequently attended doo-wop performances with his wife, Lorraine.A sports fan and great cook, Ken loved watching the Red Sox and was known for his homemade meatballs.
He was the beloved husband of Lorraine (Leavitt) Bennett with whom he shared 46 years of marriage.Devoted father of Karen McDonough of Stoneham and his son-in-law Jay McDonough of Woburn, Melissa Bartlett and her husband Frank of Beverly, and Alison Bennett of Stoneham.Dear brother of Richard Bennett of Manchester, NH.Cherished grandfather of Brittany and Matthew McDonough both of Stoneham, and Dorothy and Zoe Bartlett both of Beverly.He also leaves his dear 3-year old Chihuahua puppy, "Miles."
Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, June 4 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in honor and remembrance of Ken's life at Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8 PM.
