Mr. Kenneth E. Woker, a longtime Melrose resident, died on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.He had recently celebrated his 94th birthday.
Ken was born on August 13, 1916 in Pearl City, Illinois, a son of the late Walter F. Woker and Alta (Babbs) Woker.
He was raised in Pearl City, IL where he graduated from high school.He then served in the US Army during World War II.For many years, Ken worked as an aerospace machinist in Wilmington.He was a member of the DAV and the Harold O. Young VFW Post #2394 in Melrose.
Ken Woker was the beloved husband of the late Marjorie "Midge" (Gallant) Woker with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.Devoted father of Bonnie J. Freeman and her husband Ray of Nashua, NH.Dear brother of the late Wayne, Levitt, and Dora Woker.Cherished grandfather of Charles K. McCarthy of Londonderry, NH, and Michael R. McCarthy and his wife AnnMarie of Wilmington.Loving great-grandfather of Michael A. McCarthy and Maria J. McCarthy both of Wilmington.Dear uncle of Gerald Woker of IL, Karen Endress of WI, and Gary Woker of IL.Also survived by his dearly devoted dog, Foxy.
