Kevin J. Mccarthy

Kevin J. McCarthy, a resident of Woburn, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Lahey Clinic Medical Center at age 61.

Kevin was born in Melrose on September 13, 1960, one of five children of the late Edward E. and Mary E. (Dustin) McCarthy. A Melrose native, he attended Melrose High School and began working at MIT Lincoln Labs at age 18. With loyal dedication, Kevin showed up for work everyday at MIT Lincoln Laboratory for over 40 years, before retiring more recently.

Kevin also greatly enjoyed his part-time jobs as a bartender at the Hilltop Steakhouse, and in security at the Boston Garden.

Kevin was a kind soul with a tough exterior that masked his gentle spirit. An avid Patriots fan, he loved riding his Harley-Davidson with his buddies, going to Aerosmith concerts, but was also a thoughtful, smart, and kindhearted man. A car enthusiast, he enjoyed going to car shows, NASCAR races, and Bike Week in Laconia, NH. At home, he loved watching movies, or garage shows. Kevin will be deeply missed, but always lovingly remembered.

Kevin was the beloved father of Michael McCarthy and his wife Malissa of Saugus, Janel McCarthy of Beverly, and Elaine McCarthy of Fayetteville, NC. Dear brother of Patricia Lawton and her husband Raymond of Wakefield, Coleen Ryan and her husband William of N. Chelmsford, Sean McCarthy and his wife Donna of Merrimack, NH, and the late Laureen Cobuccio and her surviving husband Michael of Merrimack, NH. Loving grandfather of Redding and Ozzy McCarthy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives & friends are kindly invited to gather during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Monday, August 8 from 9-11am, followed by his Funeral Service celebrated at 11am.
