Mr. Lawrence E. "Bunker" Denish, a lifelong resident of Everett, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 25, 2012, at the age of 87.
Mr. Denish was born June 17, 1925 in Everett, one of five children of the late Lawrence L. and Marie F. (Green) Denish.Mr. Denish was raised in Everett and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.Lawrence who was lovingly known as "Bunker" was a member of the DAV Chapter 51 in Everett, and the Everett Elks Club.For many years, he worked at the Monsanto Chemical Company in Everett.He was devoted to his family and a faithful parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church where he served as an Usher for many years.He will be remembered for his love of bowling, especially with his beloved family and friends.
Bunker was the beloved husband of the late Barbara T. (Faucher) Denish with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.Devoted father of Lawrence L. Denish and his wife JoEllen of Everett, John F. Denish of Pittsburgh, PA, Kathleen A. Mattei and her late husband Pasquale "Rick" Mattei of Littleton, NH, Francis W. Denish of Everett, Margaret C. Lever and her husband Harvey of Everett, Marie A. Hidden and her late husband Bruce Hidden of Revere, William G. Denish and his wife Gail of Everett, Joseph R. Denish and his wife Beth of Peabody, Paul E. Denish of Medford, Barbara E. Rawcliffe of Saugus, Elizabeth A. Murphy and her husband Paul of Everett, and Mary T. Denish of Everett.Dear brother of Shirley Moore of Everett, Catherine Gibbons of Everett, Harold Mayo of Everett, and Richard Mayo of N. Reading.Caring brother-in-law of Eleanor McEnroy of Nashua, NH, and William G. Faucher of Stoneham.Loving grandfather of the late Julie M. Lever. Also survived by 34 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Larry's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Sunday, October 28 from 2-6 PM and again on Monday at 8:45 AM before leaving in procession to the Immaculate Conception Church, Broadway, Everett where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM.Interment with military honors by the US Navy in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
