Mr. Leo J. Battaglioli of Melrose died Tuesday afternoon, August 1, 2006 at the Harborside Healthcare Center in Wakefield. He was 88 years old.
Mr. Battaglioli was born March 15, 1918 in Somerville, MA, son of the late Virgilio Battaglioli and Malfisa (Pangi) Battaglioli.
Mr. Battaglioli served in the United States Army during WWII and in the United States Air Forces during the Korean Conflict. A proud patriot, he was an active life-long member, life-time chaplain and past commander of the Harold O. Young V.F.W. Post # 2394 in Melrose. He was a communicant of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield.
He had worked as a chef in the food industry for various companies before retiring.
His wife, Margaret M. (Ramsdell) Battaglioli died December 11, 1995.He is survived by his daughter, Barbara A. Fortune of Melrose; a brother, Joseph Bartli of Kennebunkport, ME.; three grandchildren, Faith M.Fortune, Stefanie M. Macedo, both of Melrose and Mark E. Fortune of Littleton; two great- grandchildren.
