Levi Thomas "Tom" Robichaud, a longtime resident of Melrose, Massachusetts passed away peacefully with his family on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at his home in Woburn, at age 92.

Tom was born in Milo, Maine on May 2, 1931, the son of the late Levi Joseph Robichaud and Helena Gertrude (Morton). He grew up in the village of Derby, Maine where his father worked for the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad Shops. His mother passed away when he was five years old.

In 1948, after graduating from Milo High School, he joined the US Navy and served for 20 years. With his math skills and logical mind, he started as a computer programmer, became a systems analyst, and a manager. He retired from the Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer and the title of Chief Data Processing Technician. He received a Joint Commendation Award from the Secretary of the Department of Defense for his work at his last assignment with Headquarters US Strike Command at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL.

He married Marcia Hudder in 1953 in Boston, Massachusetts. They celebrated their 70th anniversary last November. They raised their family of three daughters as a Navy family; living in Dorchester, MA, Arlington, VA, Pensacola, FL, Bainbridge MD, Eva Beach, HI, and Tampa, FL.

When they moved to Hawaii for three years, they drove across the United States twice. Going west across Southern states, and going east on their return across Northern and Midwestern states, seeing many wonders during the journeys.

After his discharge from the Navy in 1968, they settled in Melrose, MA, where they lived for over 50 years. Tom worked for MIB (Medical Information Bureau) as Director of Computer Operations for many years, retiring in 1993.

Tom was a kind, quiet and active person. He was a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Melrose, where he served on the Vestry and worked in the Thrift Shop. He and Marcia were active in Baldwin Apples Squares dancing club.

He loved trains, having grown up near them. He was a model railroader, and built a model train layout at his home in Melrose. He was a member of the North Shore Model Railroad Club in Wakefield. He and his son-in-law Alan Belcher, also a model railroader attended and worked at many train shows, and traveled for railfanning around New England.

During retirement, Tom and Marcia traveled with friends to many places, and visited family in Vermont and Maine.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife Marcia Robichaud. Two daughters, Deb Belcher and her husband Alan of Hinesburg, VT, and Patti Serson of Woburn. Five grandchildren, Zachary Levi Belcher and his wife Emily, Thomas Levi Serson, Sarah Serson, Rosaline Campbell, Robert Campbell and two step-grandchildren, Grace Campbell and Kate Campbell. Two great grandchildren David A. Serson and Levi Holden Belcher.

He is also survived by many nieces and their spouses; Michele Robichaud and Kenny Kenawy, Donna and Robert Zeine, Helena Bliss, Joanne Peters, Dianne Byrne, Gail Sullivan, Peggy and Barry Amerault, and Jackie and Hugh Werner. Also, his brother-in-law Edward Bliss.

He was predeceased by his parents, his daughter Martha Campbell, his sister Corinne Bliss, his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Madelaine Robichaud, His brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Marie Hudder, his son-in-law David L. Serson, and his "second mother" = his mother-in-law Martha Hudder.

His family would like to acknowledge the kindness and compassion of the caregivers from Care Dimensions who provided excellent hospice care for him at his home.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for his Funeral Service at Trinity Episcopal Church, 131 W. Emerson St., Melrose celebrated on Saturday, February 17th at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in Tom’s memory may be made to Trinity, Melrose as they renovate their building to house new afterschool programming by the Boys and Girls Club of Stoneham and Wakefield (please make checks payable to “Trinity Parish, Melrose” with “In memory of Tom Robichaud” in the memo line and mail to 131 W. Emerson St. Melrose, MA 02176) or to the  Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452 or to a charity of your choice.

Interment will be in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose in the Spring.
