Linda M. Charette

Linda M. (LoPiccolo) Charette, of Salem, NH and formerly longtime of Malden, passed away peacefully at Greystone Farm at Salem on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at age 73.

Born on October 17, 1948 in Boston, she was one of five children of the late Joseph and Celia (Capachietti) LoPiccolo. Raised in the West End of Boston before moving to Malden, Linda graduated from Malden High School, continued her education at Perry Normal School in Boston, and then went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at Westmar College in LaMars, Iowa.  She settled in Malden to raise her two children, but her roots in the West End/North End always remained close to her heart.

A warm, loving, and strong woman, Linda was natural caretaker and blessed with an ability to connect with children. She served as the de facto mom for many children with her inclusive way of caring for everyone, and her unconditional love for all. For over 10 years, she excelled in her role as the Site Coordinator for the Metro North Children’s Learning Center in Malden. She raised her two children with warmth, humor, and respect for all as guiding principles.

Linda found beauty and value in all aspects of life, and sometimes in surprising places. She was a noted “repurposer” with a knack for finding an antique, or collector’s item. Whether a person or a thing, she always had an open mind, and often invigorated whatever she came across.

In her free time, Linda was a huge animal lover, and enjoyed playing the acoustic guitar. She also loved playing the slots at the casinos, and the thrill of scratch tickets. She had a natural connection to the outdoors, finding beauty in walking the beach and the sound of the ocean waves. Regular visits to reconnect with nature to Salisbury Beach, and Camp Gannett in Sharon are cherished family memories.

Above all, her family was nearest and dearest to her heart, especially her children and grandchildren. She inspired them with her dedication, infectious laugh, and ability to make the best of anything. Her loving presence was felt at every game, recital, or school event when her children were young, and later for her grandchildren. Her two grandchildren were simply the joy of her life.

Linda will be deeply missed, but her selfless nature, endless love and warmth, and positive outlook on life will continue to inspire and surround her family. May she rest in peace.

Linda was the devoted mother of Danielle N. Charette of Swampscott, and Eric J. Charette and his wife Ashley of Amherst, NH. Cherished grandmother of Leia Charette and James Joseph “JJ” Charette. Loving sister of Rosalind Lafond, Barbara Hamlet, and the late Cecile “Cissy” DeSilva, and the late Joseph LoPiccolo. Former wife of the late Richard M. “Rick” Charette. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Linda’s life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday, July 12 from 3-6pm, followed by a Celebration of life at 6pm. Gifts in Linda’s memory may be made to the MSPCA, 350 S. Huntington Ave., Boston MA 02130. For online tribute visit RobinsonFuneralHome.com
