Loring "Cush" Cushman, a life long resident of Melrose, died at Lahey Clinic in Burlington on Thursday morning November 17, 2005 at the age of 96. "Cush" was born in Melrose September 26, 1909, son of the late Loring T. Cushman and Marguerite (Libby) Cushman. Cush played hockey at Melrose High School, Worcester Academy,Andover Academy and the Boston Hockey Club. Cush served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea and was a member of the Harold O. Young VFW Post #2394 in Melrose. Mr. Cushman was a salesman, retiring at age 90. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and loved to spent time at his summer home in New Gloucester, Maine. Loring was the husband of Marjorie M. (Washburn) Cushman.Father of Nancy Whitehouse of Topsfield, John I. Sturgis of Stoneham and Robert W. Sturgis of Simsbury, CT. Brother of the late Robert A. Cushman and Thomas P. Cushman. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
