Louis A. Defranzo
Louis was born on December 19, 1929 in Winthrop, one of five children of the late Michael and Isabel (Rinaldi) DeFranzo.He was raised in East Boston, where he graduated from East Boston High School.He attended Tufts University and began his working career for the City of Boston and Commonwealth of MA as a Civil Engineer.For many years, Louis worked repairing and maintaining the bridges and highways throughout Massachusetts.
Louis was a smart and well-read man. After his retirement from working, he spent many enjoyable hours and days reading books.He was especially interested in World War II, and Korean War books.He also enjoyed watching the Boston sports teams, and getting together for family gatherings.
Mr. DeFranzo's devotion to his family and love for his wife and daughters defined him.He was their rock, and the source of strength for everyone around him. He worked hard every day with the single intention of making their lives better, and providing whatever they needed.His faithfulness, love, and care he showed his family, will continue as his lasting legacy.
Louis will be lovingly remembered as the beloved husband of Joan C. (Purciello) DeFranzo with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Deeply devoted father of Susan DeFranzo Valdanbrini and her husband Paul of Nashua, NH, and Gina M. DeFranzo of Saugus. Cherished son of the late Michael and Isabel DeFranzo.Loving brother of Gerard DeFranzo and his wife Pam of Malden, Barbara Walsh and her husband Buddy of E. Boston, and the late Celeste Mei, and Rocky DeFranzo. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor of Louis at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose during visiting hours on Sunday, March 16 from 2-6PM, and for his Funeral Service celebrated on Monday at 9AM. Gifts in his memory to Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown MA 02472.
