Mrs. Louise (Huntress) Daniels, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away on May 2, 2009 at Brooksby Village in Peabody.She was 81 years old.

Mrs. Daniels was born April 1, 1928 in Stoneham, a daughter of the late William C. Huntress and Marion (Armington) Huntress Cuthbertson.

Louise was born in Stoneham but grew up in Melrose.She attended Melrose High School and Brimmer May in Boston.She graduated from Wheelock College in Boston in 1951 and was married shortly after that.She taught 2nd grade at the Beebe School in Saugus for two years but left when Bob's business took them to Manchester, NH where they lived for three years and made many friends.They left Manchester for Burlington, VT where they lived for 7 years.While there she was president of the Burlington Garden Club and became a member of the P.E.O..Again she made many long term friends.She returned to Melrose in 1964 and lived on Apple Hill Road for 42 years.During her years in Melrose, she was active in the activities at the Congregational Retirement Homes.She was one of the original members of its Board of Directors and was involved in the formation of their 200 Club.

She was a member of Kappa and the Bellevue Golf Club.She enjoyed bridge, gardening and traveling.She made several trips to the Southwestern states with Bob, family and their friends the Wards and Fields.She also enjoyed many winters at their condo in Florida.

Her last few years have been at Brooksby Village in Peabody where she made new friends and enjoyed visits with old friends from Melrose, Maine and New Hampshire.

Louise was the beloved wife of Robert C. Daniels with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.Dear sister of William C. Huntress, Jr. and his wife Betty of Melrose. Dear sister-in-law of Barbara Allen of Westboro. Cherished aunt of Beverly Russo and her husband Randy of Ellington, CT, William C. Huntress, III and his wife Henrike of Boxford, Barbara Tresness and her husband Greg of Manlius, NY, Charles Allen and his wife Meryle of Upton, and Robert Allen and his wife Judy of Fairfax, VA.Loving great aunt of Rick Russo, Sarah Pashe, Tyler Huntress, Caroline Huntress, Colby Tresness, Tysen Tresness Graham Tresness, Lynne Allen, Robert Allen, Christopher Allen and Beth Allen.Also survived by 5 great grandnephews.

Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Wednesday, May 6 at 11 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
