Margaret P. Otis, longtime resident of Melrose, passed peacefully on Saturday, February 27, 2021 with her loving family by her side.She was 85.

Born in Saugus on November 14, 1935, Margaret is one of three children of the late Harvey L. and Ethel D. (nee Gray) Bridges.She grew up in Melrose and Saugus. She graduated from Melrose High School in 1953.In 1952 she met James H. Otis, Jr.It was love at first sight, and they were married on May 25, 1957 at Trinity Church in Melrose.

Due to Jim's time in the military and his work the family moved around until settling in Melrose in 1962.

Margaret was an exceptionally loving wife, mother, and friend.She adored her family and was proud of all their accomplishments.She enjoyed gardening with her children, yearly trips to Bar Harbor with family, and traveling throughout Europe.

Margaret's love, warmth, and kindness will be deeply missed.

Margaret was the loving wife of James H. Otis, Jr, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.Devoted mother of James H. Otis and his wife Lois of Malden, Stephen L. Otis of Melrose, Judith L. Otis of Salem, NH, and Melissa A. Bodvar and her late husband Carl of Malden.Loving sister of Harvey L. Bridges and his late wife Jane of Saugus, and the late Olive Martin and her late husband Richard.Proud grandmother of Brittany, Amy and her husband Bill, William, Margaret and her husband Jacob, and Hannah.Cherished great grandmother of Lana Travis.

Services for Margaret will remain private.Interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
