Mrs. Marguerite J. "Peg" (DelConte) Tarr, of Saugus, and formerly a resident of Wakefield and Melrose, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, August 27, 2012, at Bear Hill Nursing Center in Stoneham.She was 98.

Marguerite was born on July 20, 1914 in Malden, a daughter of the late George M. DelConte and Margaret (Welsh) DelConte.She was raised and educated in Malden where she worked as a Hairdresser for several years.After moving to Wakefield where she and her husband raised their family, she became a Policewoman for the Wakefield Police Department.She then worked for Wakefield Trust Company as a Bookkeeper.

Shortly after retiring from the bank, she enrolled in Floral Design School at the age of 65.She attended classes for a year, and began working at her daughter's flower shop, Pottle Florist, in downtown Melrose.A very creative person, she loved working with her daughter Patricia designing new arrangements, and after 20 years, she retired again at 85.Her life centered on family, Peg always treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lovingly known as Peg, she was the beloved wife of the late Oliver F. Tarr with whom she shared 33 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Patricia A. Pottle and her husband Brad of Saugus, Wayne M. Tarr and his wife Maryrose of Wakefield.Dear sister of Lorraine Bendell, Lillian Malone, and Phyllis Allessandro, all of Malden, and the late Rose Smith and George DelConte.Caring sister-in-law of Robert Tarr of Manchester, NH.Cherished grandmother of Wayne Tarr of Melrose, Stacey Connors of Tewksbury, Nicole Breslin of Townsend, Michael Tarr of Wakefield, and Christopher Tarr of Wakefield.Loving great-grandmother of Brooke, Lauren, Michael, Brianna, Peter, and Jacqueline.Also survived by several nieces and nephews, and her beloved Bichon Frise, "Mitzi."

Relatives and friends will honor and remember Marguerite's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, August 30 from 4-8 PM and again on Friday morning at 9 AM before leaving in procession to Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM.Interment in Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
