Ms. Marie Hermann, a longtime resident of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 26, 2013 at Twin Oaks Center in Danvers, at age 89.
Marie was born on March 31, 1924 in Lynn, one of three daughters of the late Augustus H. Hermann, and Lucy (Ryther) Hermann.Raised in Melrose, Marie graduated from Melrose High School, Class of1942.She proudly served her country in the US Navy during World War II as a Yeoman, 2nd Class.After receiving an honorable discharge, she completed her associate's degree from Boston University.
She enjoyed her 30 year working career as a secretary for Pan American Airways.After retiring, she had more time for her two favorite hobbies needlepoint and quilting.Marie was a longtime member of the Melrose Highlands Congregational Church where she was a member of the Women's Guild.
Marie was a strong woman who valued her independence and will be forever proud of her service to her country.She enjoyed many years with her longtime companion and dearest friend, Chris Keegan.
She will be remembered as the beloved companion of 50 years to Christopher Keegan of Ipswich.Dear sister of the late Lucy A. Miner and Cynthia Casey.Loving aunt of Bruce Miner and his wife Carol of NH, Janet Benard and her husband Edward of Wilmington, Nancy L. Perkins and her husband George of NH, Larry Casey of NJ, Brenda Kosovan of NJ, and the late Steven W. Miner.Also survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor of Marie's life for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Monday, December 30 from 3-6 PM, and on Tuesday morning at the Melrose Highlands Congregational Church, 355 Franklin St., Melrose where her Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10 AM. Interment with military honors presented by the US Navy in Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich.
