Mrs. Marion J. (Black) Todd, a longtime resident of Stoneham, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester, at the age of 88.
Marion was born on May 28, 1923 in Toronto, Canada, one of two daughters of the late William Black and Marion J. (Waugh) Black.
Marion was raised in Canada and graduated from Humbercrest Public School and Runnymede High School in Toronto's West End.As a young child, she attended the Humbercrest United Church and enjoyed playing tennis with her girlfriends.
While living in Toronto, Marion worked at Eatons Department Store, Shaw and Begg Insurance Company, and Trans Canada Airlines (Air Canada) for several years. In 1962, she married her late husband, George Todd, whom she had met at a gathering for TCA employees.They moved to Burlington, VT, and later settled in Stoneham.Marion helped her husband with the bookkeeping for his headhunting business and had worked in banking in Boston.
In her leisure time, Marion loved weekend getaways to bed and breakfasts in New England.
She was the beloved wife of the late George R.M. Todd.Dear sister of Margaret M. Cooper of Toronto, Canada.Loving aunt of W. Stephen Cooper and his wife Carol Shibuya and Susan Roden and her husband Robert, all of Toronto, Canada.Also survived by several loving grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Marion's life for a Graveside Service at Lindenwood Cemetery, 65 Montvale Ave., Stoneham, on Thursday, April 26 at 12:30 PM.
