Mrs. Marjorie M.(Fairweather) Broadhead, of Wakefield, a former longtime Melrose resident, died Friday evening, May 30, 2008 in Rosewood Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility, Peabody. She was 86.

Marjorie was born January 13, 1922 in Everett, a daughter of the late Stanley and Mildred (Wiggett) Fairweather and lived most of her life in Melrose before moving to Naples, Florida for 14 years and returning to reside in Wakefield for over 9 years. She was a graduate of Melrose High School.

She was predeceased by her husband, William Howard Broadhead, who died in 1999, a granddaughter, Sheila Curran and a sister, Frances Brooks.

She is survived by her children, David H. Broadhead and his wife, Donna, of Salem, NH, Janice E. Jaynes and her husband, David, of Melrose, Judy A. Walden and her husband, George, of Bedford, NH, Cheryl G. Milan and her husband, Charlie, of Beverly, Donna J. Vannett and her husband, Kirk, of Peabody; two brothers,Richard Fairweather of Illnois, Donald Fairweather of Texas. Also survived by 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Broadhead worked as a secretary at Melrose - Wakefield Hospital for over 20 years, retiring in 1984. She had previously worked in the Boston Naval Yard in Charlestown.

Marjorie was an avid square dancer and Red Sox and Patriots enthusiast.
