Marjorie L. Burgess

Marjorie L. (Solomon) Burgess, of Melrose, died at the Sawtelle Hospice House of Reading on September 12, 2005. She was 90.
Born in Milton, daughter of the late Joseph and Grace (Karter) Solomon, Marjorie was a graduate of Milton High School.She later received an Honorary Degree from the Berklee College of Music.Marjorie taught piano at the Berklee College of Music but also for Adult Education classes offered at both Melrose and Stoneham High Schools.In addition, she composed and arranged her own music.She was the Past President of the New England Piano Teachers and was also the past Secretary of the New England Piano Fort. Marjorie was a resident of Melrose since 1953. She was married to her late husband, Earl J. Burgess for 49 years. She is survived by her 2 children; Frank J. Burgess and his wife Donna of Brewster and Donna G. Burgess of Middleton; 3 grandchildren, Nancy D. Chabot of North Reading, Samantha M. Burgess of Newton and Nicholas Warren of Middleton. She is also survived by 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Doris McNally.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, Melrose on Thursday, September 15th at 1 p.m. Relatives and Friends are kindly invited.Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marjorie's memory may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, P.O. Box 265, Boston, MA 02117.
