Marjory Jean (Manuel) Clark, longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2023 at a Melrose healthcare facility. She was 100.
Born on March 19, 1923 at home in Medford, she was one of six children of the late Henry J. and Abigail (Rolls) Manuel. She grew up in Medford and is a 1941 graduate of Medford High School. After high school, Jean worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston until 1947. She also worked at Williams and Alley Insurance Company in the 1970’s.
Family and home life were the staples of Jean’s life. She adored her family and enjoyed working around the house. Tending to her gardens and yard, sewing, baking, especially cakes and cake decoration, making miniature wooden dollhouse furniture, pinecone wreaths, and painting on slate. Outside of home projects, she also enjoyed bowling and a good game of mini-golf.
Marjory’s love, warmth, and big heart will be missed.
Marjory was the beloved wife of the late Thornton F. Clark. Devoted mother of Elaine Clark Halchuck and her husband William of Maine and Richard T. Clark of Melrose. Loving sister of Dorcas G. Shumway of Vermont, Ruth E. Upham of Maine, James Manuel of Wilmington, Joseph A. Manuel of Vermont, and Chester T. Manuel of Maine. Proud grandmother of Lisa Jean Clark, PhD of California.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Lakeside Cemetery, 501 North Ave., Wakefield, on Wednesday, August 16 for her graveside funeral ceremony celebrated at 10am.
