Marshall Levy

Marshall Levy, of Rockport, and formerly of Wakefield and Malden, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester.He was 85.

Marshall was born on June 28, 1933 in Malden, one of four children of the late Hyman and Frances (Swartz) Levy.He graduated from Malden High School in 1952 and Boston University in 1956.After graduation from Boston University, Marshall and Carole Crandall were married and went on to share 54 wonderful years together.

Marshall enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1956, and he was honorably discharged in 1962.

Marshall and Carole moved to Malden to raise their family and he went to work as a buyer and merchandise manager at Gilchrists in Boston. The family would eventually settle in Wakefield later in life.

A quiet gentleman, Marshall put a lot of thought into what he was going to say, and it carried a lot of weight. He adored his family, especially his late wife Carole.They truly were soul mates and he was very supportive of her.It was an amazing marriage.

A man of deep faith, Marshall was especially active at the Temple in Malden, and later the Temple Ahavat Achim in Gloucester.

Reading and learning was something Marshall was quite passionate about, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life.History was one of his favorite topics to either read or discuss.One could also find him going on the occasional cruise, playing cards, or bingo, enjoying a favorite piece of classical music or the opera, and venturing out to the Cape.

Marshall was a consummate gentleman.He loved his family with all his heart, and maintained lifelong friendships.The well being of others was his greatest concern, and he will be deeply missed by all.

Marshall is the beloved husband of the late Carole (Crandall) Levy with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.Devoted father of Stephen D. Levy and his wife Cynthia of Rockport, and Susan Levy of Salem.Loving brother of Sandra Levy of Easton, Mona Harschorn of Canton, and the late Barbara Phillips. Proud grandfather of Robert and Theresa Levy of Rockport.Dear companion of Liz Garon of Peabody, and with her was able to begin a new fulfilling chapter in his life.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Marshall's life at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose for his Funeral Service celebrated on Friday, Jan. 25, at 1pm.Interment at Ezrath Israel Cemetery, Danvers, with honors provided by the U.S. Army.
