Martha "Marti" Bean Ackerson
Mrs. Ackerson was born in Bangor, Maine, one of two children of the late Elizabeth (Parkes) Bean and Charles E. Bean.She was raised educated in Melrose, and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Boston University.
Martha, or "Marti" as she was known, was a dedicated career woman.For 27 years, she worked as the Director of Admissions at Lesley College in Cambridge.In her spare time, Marti enjoyed politics, reading, and especially enjoyed boating with her husband Tom on summer weekends. She was always a benevolent person who quietly gave to many charitable organizations in Wakefield and the surrounding communities.Marti was a member of Green Street Baptist Church of Melrose.
Marti was the beloved wife of the late Thomas W. Ackerson.Loving sister of Garry N. Bean and his late wife Nancy of Franklin.Devoted Aunt of Garry N. Bean, Jr. and his wife Janet of Walpole, Susan E. Haley and her husband Robert of Norfolk, and the late Randall C. Bean.
Relatives and friends will honor Marti's life privately.
