Martha (Newton) Geer, of Wakefield, "the Girl Scout Cookie Lady" died Monday, October 2, 2006 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton after a brief illness. She was 98 years old.
She was born September 18, 1908 in Brockton, Massachusetts daughter to the late Fred P. Newton and Mabel (Spaulding) Newton.
Martha graduated from Brockton High School in 1926. She was a member of the Social Order of the Beauceant Reading Assembly #117, a 70 year member of the Girl Scouts and a member of FOLQ (Friends of Lake Quannapowitt), Wakefield.
Martha was the beloved wife of the late Howard L. Geer. Loving mother of Barbara Devine of South Weymouth and Sandra E. Geer of Brighton. Sister of the late Richard Newton. Cherished grandmother of Stephen Devine and his wife Ann of Hanover, Scott Devine and his wife Shari Corin of Atlanta, GA, Jeffrey Devine of North Attleboro, and Susan Anastasi and her husband Edward of Brockton. Great grandmother of Brittany Devine and Corey Devine both of Hanover and Jacob Devine of Atlanta, GA.
