Mary (Knight) Barchus
Mrs. Barchus was born on October 8, 1913 in Melrose, one of four children of the late George A.C. Knight and Cora (Newcomb) Knight.
She was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1930, and attended Smith College.For 23 years, Mrs. Barchus worked in Stoneham as a receptionist for Dr. Gilbert H. Meyer's orthodontist office.She also worked in Melrose at Clements Clothing Store and Hugo's Appliances.
Mrs. Barchus loved travelling, gardening, riding horses, cooking, calligraphy, and animals, especially dogs and horses.An avid reader, she enjoyed volunteering for the Melrose Public Schools to help foreign students learn how to read.
Beloved wife of the late Daniel Q. Barchus.Devoted mother of Jonathan K. Barchus and his wife Joyce of Manchester, NH and Samuel C. Barchus and his wife Nazare of Amesbury.Dear sister of the late Richard Knight, Dorothy Knight, and William Knight.Cherished grandmother of Christine Dame, Allison Niedbala, Jeffrey Barchus, Emily Schunemann, Scott Barchus, Jenna Creagle, and Amber Barchus.Loving great grandmother of Dorothy, Ashley, Lyden, Tyler, Abigail, Courtnee, Alyssa, Seth, Shawn, and Nathan.Loving great great grandmother of Aiden.

Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St, Melrose on THURSDAY, JANUARY 20 AT 10:30 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
