Mrs. Mary F. (Eklof) Haley, of Saugus, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006 in the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital after a period of declining health. She was 92 years old.
Mary was the beloved wife of 57 years of the late, Frederick A. Haley who passed December 14, 1995. She is survived by her loving children, Jeanette L. Shipley of Yuma, Arizona and Robert F. Haley, Sr. and his wife Elizabeth of Saugus. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Her siblings, George Eklof, Arthur Eklof, John Eklof, Lillian Roberts, and Dorothy Roberts predeceased her.
Mrs. Haley was born in Somerville on August 18, 1914 daughter to the late John W. Eklof and Elmor M. (Westhaver) Eklof. She was raised and educated in Somerville and lived in various areas before moving to Saugus 15 years ago.
For many years, Mary worked as a bookkeeper at the former H.P. Hood Company. She later worked as a crossing guard for the City of Medford, retiring in 1980.
Mrs. Haley was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rebecca Lodge in Medford, and a former member of the Medford Auxiliary Police and Crossing Guards.
