Mary M. (Gill) LaFave, of Winchester, formerly longtime resident of Medford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Aberjona Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was 95.
Born in Chelsea on November 8, 1926, Mary was one of four children of the late James and Mary Gill. She grew up in East Boston and Medford graduating from Medford High School.
Mary met and later married Frederick B. LaFave after he returned stateside from serving in the United States Navy. They shared many wonderful years together.
Mary was a wife and mother before anything else. She enjoyed her life with Fred and was exceptionally active in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed visits to York Beach in Maine, playing cards, and following the Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox.
Mary’s good-natured sarcasm, sense of humor, and love of her family will be missed.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Frederick B. LaFave with whom she shared 40 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Denise, Michelle LaFave of Malden, Suzanne Vining of Sommerville, Stephen (Debbie) LaFave of Dracut, and Frederick LaFave of Medford. Caring sister of the late James, Robert, and Barbara. Cherished grandmother of Maclain, Ryan, Corey, Scott, and Danielle, and great-grandmother of Eva, Michaela, Lacey, and Pia.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visiting hour at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday, May 24 from 8:30am until leaving in procession to the Parish of the Immaculate Conception, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, for her Funeral Mass celebrated at 10am. Interment at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 1:30pm.
