Mrs. Mary L. (Jones) McGeoch, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013 at EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Melrose, at the age of 81.
Mrs. McGeoch was born on February 24, 1931 in Malden, the daughter of the late Nelson F. Jones and Sarah M. (Dean) Jones.She was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School.She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Malden where she taught Sunday School.Mary was also active with the Rainbow Girls, and the Sunshine Group in Melrose.
Mary lived in Everett for several years until she and her husband Raymond settled in Melrose in 1964.Mary and Ray lived on Lebanon Street for 40 years where Mary loved hosting get-togethers for family, friends, and neighbors.She was a great cook, enjoyed crocheting, and was always a thoughtful, loving person.Mary loved the ocean, lighthouses, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren at the beach.She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, and love for family.
Mrs. McGeoch was the beloved wife of Raymond A. McGeoch with whom she shared 48 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Linda Umlah and her fiancé William D. McCarthy of Southampton, Susan B. Blantz of Melrose, Randy W. Huber of Clearwater, FL, and the late Gary S. Huber.Cherished grandmother of Julie Emond, Craig Fielding, Jeremy Umlah, Jessica Blantz, Sarah Blantz, Eric Huber, and Diana Mulcahy.She is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Mary's life by gathering at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose during visiting hours on Friday, January 25 from 4-8PM, and again for her Funeral Servicecelebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
