Mrs. Marylynn (Moore) Hickey, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday evening, January 3, 2011 at Epoch Senior Healthcare in Melrose.She was 84 years old.
Marylynn was born in Meriden, Connecticut on April 2, 1926, one of three children of the late William H. Moore and Alice (White) Moore.
Mrs. Hickey was raised in Arlington and Medford, graduating from Medford High School.She and her late husband, Jack, settled in Melrose where they raised their ten children.After raising her family, she worked at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in various capacities for several years.She was a longtime and active parishioner of St. Mary's Church where she enjoyed volunteering for many years.She was active with the Melrose High School Boosters, enjoyed reading, and good stories.
Marylynn loved to travel the coast and back roads of New England.She especially enjoyed visiting and vacationing in Rye Beach, New Hampshire with her late husband and family members.Above all else, Mrs. Hickey loved gatherings to enjoy time together with her family and friends.
She was the beloved wife of the late John J. "Jack" Hickey, Jr. with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Mary A. "Lisa" Hickey of Melrose, John J. Hickey of Lynn, Timothy G. Hickey and his wife Judy of Easton, Julie H. Martinos and her husband Phillip of Waltham, Christopher P. Hickey and his wife Christine of Melrose, and Peter A. Hickey and his wife Kate of Melrose.Dear sister of the late Louis Moore and William C. Moore.She was the dear sister-in-law of Beryl Moore of Melrose, Edward Hickey of Dover, Barbara Hickey of Middletown, CT, Eleanor Head of Chicago, IL, Anne Marie Hickey of PA, and Richard and Peggy Hickey of Belmont.Cherished grandmother of Maura, Brendan, Joseph, Maire, Kerry, Alison, Caroline, Ian, Shannon, Erin, Jack, Teddy, Colleen, Sean, Kathleen, Caitlin, Matthew, Adelaide and Jameson.Also survived by many loving relatives.
