Matthew H. Lockwood, of Washington, DC, died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at age 48.
Matthew was born in Evanston, Illinois on November 9, 1972. Raised in Winnetka, IL, he graduated from New Trier High School where he starred on the cross-country team. At the age of 15, he entered his first Triathlon, and subsequently competed throughout the country with great success. He continued his athletic career on the track team while attending University of Miami Ohio and the University of Missouri. With a Degree in Advertising Journalism, Matt worked as a copy writer and group creative director for several advertising agencies. Over his career, he helped create memorable advertising campaigns for large food manufacturers.
A born actor, Matt was witty, creative and could light up a room. In his younger years, he developed a character "Zeek" and entertained everyone as a ventriloquist at birthday parties and events. When living in Florida, he enjoyed the beach lifestyle and loved to sail. Matthew will be forever remembered and deeply missed.
Matt is survived by his parents, Pamela (Bowman) Lockwood and John H. Lockwood, Jr; former wife Katie Wagner Lockwood; son Finnegan M. Lockwood; siblings John H. Lockwood, III, Amy Lockwood Sarkissian and Adrienne Reidel, and many nieces and nephews.
Matthew's life will be celebrated privately at his Funeral Service for immediate family at the First Baptist Church, 561 Main St., Melrose. Interment to follow at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
