Maureen (O'Toole) Welch, a retired elementary school teacher for 39 years in the Town of Stoneham and a long time resident of Melrose, died suddenly Thursday night September 24, 2009 at home.She was 65 years old.
Maureen was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on July 16, 1944.She was raised in Stoneham and graduated from St. Patrick's School.She received her undergraduate degree from Boston College and earned her master's degree in education from Salem State College. For many years, Maureen taught elementary school for the Stoneham public school system.
Maureen was the beloved wife of Jack with whom she shared 41 years of marriage.Loving daughter of Mary Monteforte of Yarmouthand the late Thomas O'Toole. Dear stepdaughter of Joseph Monteforte of Yarmouth. Dear sister of Jean A. O'Toole of Melrose and the late Martha O'Toole.Step sister of Gail Monteforte of NYC, NY. Dear sister in law of Janet G. Sutherland and her husband Tom of Melrose and Polly M. Shea and her husband Dan of Medford.Cherished aunt of Chris Sutherland of Melrose,Amy Fahy of Quincy, Sarah Ste. Marie of Denver, CO, Abigail Sutherland of Charlestown, Daniel Shea and Kevin Shea both of Medford and Lara Deane of Somerville.
Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Thursday October 1 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in honor and remembrance of Maureen in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM.Interment will be in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
