Mr. Maurice M. "Murray" Lisker of Melrose formerly of Brighton, died November 5, 2003 at the East Village Nursing Facility in Lexington, MA
Mr. Lisker was born March 3, 1914 in Boston, MA, son of the late Harry and Rebecca (Feldman) Lisker.
Mr. Lisker was the official greeter of Melrose with his own desk in City Hall.He was appointed by former Mayor Patrick Guerriero.For 14 years he worked as a toll collector for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority at the West Newton Exit.
Mr. Lisker received a certificate for doing over 2000 hours of volunteer service for "RSVP" in Brighton.For many years he played Santa Claus for the B&M Railroad.He collected nearly $5000 for the Jimmy Fund in Melrose.
Husband of Irene (Kaiser) Lisker.Father of Elaine Paro of Wakefield and Diane R. Lisker of Melrose.Brother of Rose Levinson of Uxbridge and Gerry Lisker Levy of Wayland.Grandfather of Jon Paro and his wife Staci of Lynn, Lynne Port and her husband Glen of Reading and Michael Paro of Wakefield.Great-grandfather of Courtney Port, Joshua Paro and Julia Paro.Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St, MELROSE Friday, November 7, 2003 at 12:30PM.Memorial observance will be private.In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
Interment in Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon, MA
