Millie Campea

Millie Campea, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully at Peregrine Landing in Tewksbury on Monday, February 16, 2015, at age 92.

Millie was born in Melrose on September 13, 1922, one of six children of the late Charles and Anna (Lanciani) Campea. She was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School.Millie worked as an executive secretary for the Selective Service System for 31 years.

She was a member of the Federal National Association for Retired Employees, and the 200 Club in Melrose.

Millie was a sweet, outgoing person who had a smile for everyone she met. With her bubbly personality, she made friends easily and endeared herself to friends and family alike.

When not working, Millie loved travelling. She experienced many locales over the years with her family including New Hampshire, Bermuda, Florida, Washington, DC, and even Las Vegas. In her free time, Millie loved crafts especially crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, and cherished her collection of Hummel's, Snowbabies, and Nutcrackers.

Above all else, Millie remained deeply devoted to her family who she loved spending time with.

She was the dear sister of Elizabeth Kierstead of Malden, and the late Letty Zirpolo,Y. Margaret Bushey, Lee Campea, and Charles A. Campea. Cherished aunt of Barbara Roberts and her husband Charles, Kenneth Bushey and his wife Sharleyn, Diane Mendalka and her husband Daniel, Margie Godding and her husband Paul, and Marylou Kierstead and her husband Michael Weiss. Also survived by many grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Millie's life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, February 19 from 4-7 PM, and again on Friday at 10AM before leaving in procession to the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
