Mrs. Myra G. (Neal) Johnson, of Melrose, died Sunday, September 24, 2006 in her home after an illness. She was 93 years old.
She was born April 30, 1913 in Lynn, Massachusetts daughter to the late Archie H. and Vita (Gray) Neal. Her mother died when she was only 4 years old. Her father later re-married to Selma (Helgren) Neal whom she considered her mother.
Her husband, Herbert L. Johnson died July 5, 1974. She is survived by nieces & nephews including, Janet Tucker Sharpe of Wakefield, Diane J. Tucker of Middleton and her late husband Neal L. Tucker, Stanley H. Neal & his wife Nadine, David A. Neal & his wife Patricia, all of Louisiana, Nancy N. Campbell & her husband Pete, Linda N. Pate & her husband Don, all of Texas and Garry L. Neal & his wife Terri of Arkansas. She was the loving aunt to many grand nieces and grand nephews, great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews. Her sister, Edwina N. Tucker and her brother, Gordon H. Neal, predeceased her.
Mrs. Johnson was an underwriter for the former American Mutual Company in Wakefield for many years, retiring in 1978.Previously, she had worked at the former S.S. Pierce Company.
She was an active 75 year member of the Green Street Baptist Church. She was active in various church groups, including teaching in Sunday school and Bible Study.
