Myrton B. Haroth, 82, a life long Melrose resident died Monday, March 16 at his residence.
Born in Melrose on January 19, 1927 he was the son of the late Theodore F. and Magdeline (Loeser) Haroth. Mr. Haroth was raised and educated in Melrose. He retired as a Shop Chief for the 3rd Battalion 182 Infantry, Department of United States Army and Air Force in 1980 and was also a retired Sergeant Major in the 26th Infantry Division of the Massachusetts National Guard on January 19, 1987.
Mr. Haroth was a 50 year member of the Melrose Masonic Fidelity Lodge. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Melrose.
Mr. Haroth built his own family cottage in Bristol, NH over 50 years ago.
Mr. Haroth was the husband of the late Mildred A. (Ryder) Haroth. He was the father of Susan Aborn & her husband Howard and Marlene Szabo & her husband Paul all of Melrose. Grandfather of Stacey DelGenio & her husband Skip of Melrose, Jeffrey Aborn & his wife Kristin of Reading, Peter Szabo of Melrose and Michael Szabo & his wife Chris of Northboro. Great grandfather of Anthony, Haley, Regina, Jack, Sarah, Ivy and Lily. Brother-in-law of Floyd Frost of Stoneham and long time friend of Barbara Dannbauer of Melrose.
Mr. Haroth was predeceased by his three brothers; Paul Haroth, Henry Haroth and Robert Haroth, his two sisters; Caroline MacKinnon and Ida Gallant and his nephew Pete MacKinnon.
