Nancy C. (Bowman) Bean, of Naples, FL and Peabody, MA formerly of Melrose, died Thursday August 12, 2004. Mrs. Bean was born May 7, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late A. Donald "AD" Bowman and Virginia (Hard) Bowman. Nancy graduated from St. Margaret's School in Waterbury, CT and Tufts Bouve` in Medford.Nancy was a physical therapist for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and a volunteer at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and the Melrose YMCA where she taught handicapped children to swim.Nancy was a member of the Junior League and a former camp counselor at Camp Wohelo in Sebago Lake, ME.Nancy was an active golfer playing at Bellevue Golf Club in Melrose, Salem County Club and the Imperial Golf Club in Naples, FL.
Nancy was the wife of 54 years to Garry N. Bean.Mother of Garry N. Bean, Jr. and his wife Janet of Walpole, Susan E. Haley and her husband, Robert of Norfolk and the late Randall C. Bean.Sister of the late Peter Bowman.Sister-in-law of Lucy Bowman of Granby, CT and Martha B. "Marti" Ackerson of Wakefield.Aunt of Pamela, Katie and Peter Bowman.Visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St. Melrose Sunday 2-6 PM.A private funeral service will be held. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield, MA. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Lupus Foundation, 40 Speen Street, Suite 205 Framingham, MA 01701.
