Nancy M. (Webber) Roth, a longtime Melrose resident, passed away at her home on Thursday evening, May 1, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.She was 82.
Nancy was born on January 5, 1932 in Melrose, one of three daughters of the late Frederick P. Webber and Josephine (White) Webber.She was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School. While roller-skating, Nancy met her future husband the late Robert A. Roth, and they settled in Melrose to raise their family of two sons and four daughters.Nancy devoted herself to caring for her children.She was always home to provide the loving support they needed, and instilled the family values they carry with them today. While raising her children, she was an avid bowler, and looked forward to spending the summer with her children camping at Myles Standish State Forest in Plymouth.
After fulfilling her role as a mother, Nancy began a new career in the accounting department at Windham Professionals in Salem, New Hampshire.She enjoyed her work, and after watching the company grow, finally retired in 2007 at age 75.
A passionate bowler, Nancy was an honorary lifetime member and served as Secretary for both the Greater Boston Women's Bowling Association, and the Massachusetts Women's Bowling Association. She traveled across the country to various bowling tournaments, and served as one of the Massachusetts delegates at the national convention.A social butterfly, Nancy's group of tenpin bowling friends was far and wide and everyone seemed to know and love her.
In addition to her love of bowling, Nancy enjoyed her free time with a love of reading, gardening, puzzles, and needlework.Above all else, she cherished her family. She always looked forward to getting together with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Nancy was the former wife of the late Robert A. Roth, Sr.Devoted mother of Robert A. Roth, Jr. and his wife Diane of Port Charlotte, FL, Frederick P. "Ric" Roth and his wife Linda of N. Reading, Nancy J. Roth of Stoneham, Laura J. Sorger of Melbourne, FL, Vaughan L. Roth and her husband Mike Pedersen of Shrewsbury, and the late Gail M. Face.Dear sister of Joanne Dickenson and her husband Frank of ME, and Joy Brewer and her late husband Donald of NH. Cherished grandmother of Amy, Brenna, Shannon, Jessica, Robert, Kurt, Susan, Marlena, Cassandra, Jenna, Julie, Gail, Nancy, Kristi, Eric, Gianna, Michael and Drew.She is also survived by 19 loving great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life in honor of Nancy at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Monday, May 12 at 12:00 PM.
