Nancy Fritz Torkington

Nancy Fritz Torkington, wife of Wayne Torkington, mother of Alex and Joslin Fritz, and Chairperson and Founder of nSight, Inc. died on March 18, 2014 at Boston Massachusetts General Hospital.Nancy (Nan) spent 32 years in publishing, graduating with a M.A. in International Relations from the University of Connecticut and a B.A. in International Relations and Journalism from American University.She received the distinguished Associate Fellow Award from the Society of Technical Communications.

Nan was a pioneer in the development of educational and technical communications in the industry. Her skills and creativity extended to other aspects of her life. She had recently acquired her 19th century ancestral home (the Cutting family) in the town of her birthplace, North Adams, in the Berkshires.She restored its Victorian elegance as a bed and breakfast and then opened it as The Inn on East Main Street in 2013.

Nan was an accomplished writer and had an avid interest in music and art. She was a devoted member and deacon of the First Congregational Church of Williamstown, where she served on the Advocates for Mental Health Awareness committee.

The hallmark of Nan's life as well as her legacy was her tireless devotion to family and friends. She lived a selfless life always interested in caring for others. Nan is survived by her husband, Wayne A. Torkington, son, Alex Fritz, daughter Joslin Elizabeth Fritz, granddaughter, Jaclyn Fritz, and sister, Ellen Johnck of San Francisco, California.

A memorial service (s) will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Church, 206 Clarendon Street, Boston; and again on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Williamstown, 906 Main Street, Williamstown, MA with receptions immediately following each service.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in Nan's memory may be made to the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI),The Schrafft Center,529 Main Street, Ste. 1M17, Boston, MA 02129.
