Naomi J. (Huwe) Ruprecht

Naomi J. (Huwe) Ruprecht, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at The Dexter House in Malden on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at age 83.

Naomi was born in Malden on June 19, 1938, one of two daughters of the late John Huwe and Grace (Hogan) Huwe. She was raised in Malden where she graduated from Malden High School. While working at Transitron in Melrose, she met Gene Ruprecht and they settled in Melrose to raise a family of five. After the loss of Gene, Naomi persevered, raising her family while working at the Boston Post Office mail sorting facility.

Naomi was a hard-working woman who was exceedingly generous, caring and supportive. She set an example for her entire family to follow with her vibrant personality but also her ability to love unconditionally while accepting everyone. She was a fervent defender of people's rights, and supported everyone equally. She passionately instilled fairness in her children, and raised them all to treat others kindly.

In her free time, she loved anything Boston, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. She was also a music lover, an avid reader, and animal lover. She found beauty in the world around her, with an appreciation of the natural landscape.

She served as both the rock and glue of her family, and made people better just by knowing her. She was equal parts sassy, kind, considerate, funny, selfless, and spontaneous. She was the life of the party, but was also a genuine good soul who wanted the best for the those around. She loved openly, was often inspired to sing out loud acapella, and made all feel welcome and nurtured. She will be deeply missed, but her family will carry on her legacy of kindness to all, spontaneous laughter, and selfless generosity.

Naomi was the beloved wife of the late Eugene T. "Gene" Ruprecht with whom she shared 28 years of marriage. Devoted mother of John Ruprecht of Melrose, Michael Ruprecht and his companion Jane Danikas of Gloucester, Karin Sullivan of Melrose, Holly Ruprecht of W. Hollywood, CA, and the late Patrick "Ricky" Ruprecht. Caring sister of Sandy Andon of Everett. Adored grandmother of Deborah Gaudreau, Sarah Ruprecht, Teresa Anderson, Jackie Badessa, Stephanie Sullivan, Jessica Sullivan, and Joseph Sullivan. Loving great-grandmother of Lilly, and Diana.

Services will be private. Gifts in Naomi's memory may be made to the Dexter House, Activities Fund, 120 Main St., Malden MA 02148.
