Mrs. Young was born on September 8, 1917 in Boston, one of three children of the late Salvatore Fagone and Agrippina (Scudieri) Fagone.She was raised and educated in Everett.A graduate of the Shepard-Gill School of Nursing in Boston, Nellie worked as a nurse at Malden Hospital for 18 years.
Nellie was the beloved wife of the late Frederick J. Young, Sr. with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Elizabeth G. "Betty" Smith and her husband Bruce of Mesa, AZ, Mary Torraca and her husband Paul of Wakefield, Frederick J. Young, Jr. and his wife Judy of Salem, NH, Richard J. "Dick" Young and his wife Joyce of Nashua, NH, and Ralph W. Young and his wife Gayle of Fayetteville, GA.Dear sister of the late Mary Dascanio and Stephen Fagone.Cherished grandmother of Julie Kolinsky of Topsfield, Kelly McGrath of Windham, NH, Kevin Young of FL, Ashley Young of Nashua, NH, Benjamin Young of Nashua, NH, and Michele Thompson of Blaisville, GA.Loving great-grandmother of Kevin Young Jr. and Victoria Young both of NC, Ava, Connor and Taylor McGrath all of Windham, NH, and Emma and William Thompson both of Blaisville, GA.
Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday, August 17 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in honor and remembrance of Nellie's life at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours Monday from 5-8 PM.Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
