Mrs. Nora Mae Fulmer, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully at home on February 22, 2012 at age 102.
Mrs. Fulmer was born on April 23, 1909 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, a daughter of the late William and Mary Belle (MacGinnis) Francis.
Mrs. Fulmer was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Melrose for 72 years where she belonged to the Emig Circle, taught 4th Grade Boys' Class, and was Senior Choir Mother for many years.She was also a member of Melrose Red Cross, the Melrose Girl Scout Council for 25 years and Member of the Board, including Director in 1961.She was Worshipful Master of the Melrose Grange, active volunteer at the Bedford VA Medical Center while with the Women's Auxiliary of Post 90 in Melrose. She was also active in the City Election Committee. Mrs. Fulmer enjoyed music and had a great love for children.
Nora was the beloved wife of the late Milton E. Fulmer. She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Fulmer of Melrose; her son, Earl Fulmer and his wife Jennie of Dallas, TX;three grandsons, Jon of St. Louis, MO, Brett and Lance, both of Dallas, TX; a granddaughter, Sara of San Antonio, TX; four great grandsons; one great granddaughter.
She is also survived by her sister, Beulah Newman; a brother, Murray Francis and his wife Marie, sister-in-law, Dorothy (Snow) Francis; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Hilda Harnish, Mildred McKinnon, and Margaret Norman and two brothers, Earl and Arthur Francis.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Nora's life by gathering for a Funeral Service at the First United Methodist Church, 645 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, March 1 at a time to be announced.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.Gifts in memory of Nora may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, 645 Main St., Melrose, MA02176.
