Ofelia T. Evangelista

Ofelia T. Evangelista of Stoneham passed away on Monday May 15, 2023 at the age of 71.

Ofelia was born on November 2, 1951 in San Antonio, Zambales, Philippines, one of 12 children of the late Cipriano and Consolacion (Torres) Evangelista.

Ofelia graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Far Eastern University in Manila and immigrated to the United States in 1973. She worked as a third shift medical technologist at Lahey for nearly four decades.

Lovingly called Ofie, she brought joy to everyone she met through her deep generosity, wise advice, and sharp wit. Her signature style included beautiful dresses, high heels, purses, and nails. She was a highly skilled card player and shared her good fortune with family and friends, be it by way of a chartered plane to Atlantic City or a ride to Foxwoods to experience great meals, shows, and fun.

She is survived by her daughter Jennifer E. DiCarlo of Washington, DC; her brothers Cipriano T. Evangelista of California and Artemis Evangelista of the Philippines; her sisters Socorro Bueno and Lidia Bergosa of the Philippines; her niece Mary Jane Esmilla of California; her nephews Reginald Evangelista of Washington State and Armando Evangelista of Florida; and many family members in both the United States and the Philippines.

A celebration of her life will take place in May 2024.
