Patrick &Quot;Pat&Quot; Smith

Mr. Patrick "Pat" Smith, of Mundelein, Illinois, died suddenly on Sunday, August 30, 2009 while playing his favorite sport, golf.He was 50 years of age. Mr. Smith was born in Amsterdam, Holland on March 29, 1959 to Winny (Vijsel) Smith and the late Paul Smith.Pat was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School class of 1977 and Westfield State College.He lived in Illinois and worked for Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL. Pat was the Personnel Manager of the IT Department and recently the Director of Purchasing and Retail Services at the UniversityHe possessed a deep faith in Christ and was confident in his religious beliefs.As an avid golfer, Pat died on the golf course doing what he loved.Along with golfing, he enjoyed his active Church life at Trinity, sports, and playing video games.Pat was the beloved son of Winny (Vijsel) Smith of Melrose and the late Paul Smith.Dear brother of Harold J. "Harry" and his wife Brenda of Peru, NY, and Ingrid P. Long and her husband James C. of Melrose.Cherished uncle of Heather J. Lavigne and her husband Josh, Brandon P. Smith and his wife Carrie, Kayla M. Smith, James C. "JJ" Long Jr., Tiffany C. Long and her fiancé Andrew Crosby, and Jeffrey T. Long.Loving great uncle of Keegan, Kalib, and Kaden Smith.

Funeral Service at the Green Street Baptist Church, 179 Green St., Melrose Tuesday September 8 at 12 noon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Gifts in Pat's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham 01701.
