Mr. Philip E. Polley of Atkinson, NH, formerly of North Reading and Melrose, MA, died early Thursday morning, October 2, 2008 at the Winchester Hospital.He was 86 years old.

Philip was born November 16, 1921 in Iraquois Falls, Ontario, a son of the late Edgarton Polley and Mildred (Stevens) Polley.

Mr. Polley was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School.He attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Roosevelt Field in Long Island, NY.For 35 years, Philip worked as an Aircraft Mechanic for American Airlines.He proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII.Philip enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards and loved the 54 years he spent visiting their cottage at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.

Mr. Polley was the beloved husband of Ethel (Sentner) Polley.Devoted father of Jeanne L. Bell of Brockton, Stephen Polley and his wife Marilyn of Saugus, Jane Doherty and her husband Ron of Harrisville, RI, and the late Judy Polley.Stepfather of Greg W. Simmons of Quincy and his fianc? Terry Shirosky, David M. Simmons and his wife Debra of Plaistow, NH, Laurie S. Lynch and her husband David of Haverhill, Stephanie A. Wright and her husband Jack of Somersworth, NH.Father in law of Ellen Simmons of Cohasset.Brother of the late Dorothy Louder and Jeanne Polley.Also survived by many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
