Phyllis Eileen (Crosscup) Ciampa, age 98, of Brooksby Village, Peabody, MA, and formerly of Melrose, transitioned to her heavenly home on June 27, 2022.
Phyllis was born in Malden, MA on June 25, 1924, daughter of the late Robert W. Crosscup and Myrtle V. (Davis) Crosscup. She graduated from Malden High School, attended Fisher Junior College and was a past Worthy Advisor in the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. In 1947 she married her high school sweetheart, Carmine, after he returned from World War II. For many years she and her family spent their summers at the family cottage in Plymouth, MA where wonderful memories were made with her children and grandchildren. Phyllis worked several years at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and later as office manager for an ophthalmologist. In her earlier years she was very active at Melrose Highlands Congregational Church and later at Lynnfield Centre Congregational Church. She loved sewing, knitting and crafts until her hands would no longer cooperate. Phyllis will be sadly missed, but always lovingly remembered.
Phyllis’s beloved husband of nearly 72 years, Carmine A. Ciampa, preceded her in death in 2019. She was also predeceased by her parents, a brother, son-in-law James Fowlie, grandson Christopher Fowlie, and special cousin David Kennedy.
Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Janet Mays and her husband Claude of Forest, VA and Paula Fowlie of Pelham, NH; grandchildren Jason Decker and his wife Sonja, James “Adam” Fowlie and his wife Katie, Todd Fowlie, and Kaylin Spinazzola and her husband Benedetto; great-grand children Nolan, Jack, Abigail, Gaetano, Gianluca, Macareo and Ziva. Also survived by two sisters-in law and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Service of Remembrance on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose.
