Phyllis M. Jannino

Phyllis M. (Apruzzese) Jannino, of Tewksbury and formerly of Everett, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2024 at a Melrose healthcare facility.  She was 84.

Born on June 20, 1940, in Everett, Phyllis was one of five children of the late Dominic and Grace (Trifiro) Apruzzese.  Phyllis's life was filled with warmth, compassion, and devotion to her family. She graduated from Everett High School and spent her years tirelessly working as a medical secretary, touching the lives of many with her dedication and kindness.

Phyllis's journey was one of love and selflessness. In April of 1962, she embarked on a lifelong journey with her beloved George J. Jannino, Jr. creating a home filled with love and laughter and good food. A proud hockey mom, she supported her children in their endeavors and radiated love towards those she cared for. Her love for her children, family and friends knew no bounds; if you needed support, Phyllis was there for you.

During summers, Phyllis found joy in the seaside town of Dennis Port on Cape Cod, enjoying the closeness of family and friends every summer and the beach! She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and exploring new destinations, making memories that will forever be cherished. Hundreds of dozens of Phyllis’ Christmas cookies were given to friends and family during the holidays. Phyllis enjoyed living in a variety of places in Massachusetts and beyond – Everett, Saugus, Lynnfield, Melrose, Tewksbury, Miami, FL (winters with son Criag) and Dublin, CA (with son George and his family).

We are reminded of the light Phyllis brought into our lives. Her genuine laughter, compassionate heart, and zest for life will forever be cherished by all who knew her.

Phyllis was the beloved wife of the late George J. Jannino, Jr. with whom she shared 56 years of Marriage. Devoted mother of George J. Jannino and his wife Kelli of Odessa, FL, John L. Jannino and his wife Mary of Tewksbury, and Craig S. Jannino and his partner Ted of Jamaica Plain. Loving sister of Vinicent Apruzzese and his late wife Pat of Everett, Catherine Fritz and her husband Vincent of Peabody, Louis Apruzzese and his wife Susan of Plainville, and JoAnn Brace and her late husband Colin of Tewksbury.  Cherished grandmother of Emma, Nathaniel, Michael, and Giovanni.  Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Phyllis’s life during Visiting Hours at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, on Friday, Sept. 13 from 2-4pm, where her Funeral Service will be celebrated at 4pm.
