Priscilla E. (Sears) "Cis" Gray, a lifelong Melrose resident, passed away peacefully at EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Melrose on Friday, March 27, 2015, at age 93.
Priscilla was born in Melrose, one of four children of the late Lewis and Harriett E. (Elliott) Sears. She was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School with the Class of 1939. She lived her entire life in Melrose, and was proud to call Melrose home.
With a lifelong love for the City of Melrose, Priscilla happily gave much of her time to volunteering in the community.She was a member of the Melrose Arts & Crafts Society, Meals on Wheels, the African Violet Club, the Melrose Garden Club, the Mother's Club, Melrose Historical Society, Cub Scouts, and was also active at the Melrose Senior Center where she taught sewing, knitting, crocheting, and tatting. She was very involved as a longtime member of the First Congregational Church where she was a member of the choir, the Circle, and helped organize the Annual Church Fair. In her free time, Priscilla enjoyed collecting many Indian artifacts.
Priscilla was the beloved wife of Herbert P Gray with whom she shared 70 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Richard D. Gray and his wife Paula of Las Vegas, NV and DonaldL. Gray of San Carlos, Mexico. Beloved sister of the late Kenneth Sears, Herbert Sears and Earle Sears. Cherished grandmother of Daniel Gray of Tyson, VT and Karen Davis of Brownsville, VT. Loving great grandmother of Samuel and Jordan.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Priscilla's life during visiting hours at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose Tuesday, March 31 from 4-8PM and again on Wednesday morning for her Funeral Service celebrated at 10AM.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
