Mr. Ralph D. Goff, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away on April 14, 2011 at the Wilmington Health Care Center.He was 84 years old.
Ralph was born in Melrose on January 22, 1927, one of two children of the late Ralph P. Goff and Georgianna (Benner) Goff.
Ralph was raised in Melrose and enlisted in the United States Merchant Marine at the age of 17.He later served in the South Pacific during World War II in the U.S. Air Force.While on leave, he met his future wife of 57 years, Margaret, whom he married on December 18, 1953.Ralph worked as an engineer for the Railroad for many years.
A handyman, Ralph enjoyed using his hands and home renovating.He loved the outdoors, visiting his cottage in Bristol, New Hampshire, and gardening.During his leisure time, Ralph enjoyed the many trips that he and his wife took across the country. He and Peg visited many places from Hawaii to Alaska to Bermuda and Florida.
A devoted friend and family man, Ralph will be remembered for his love of family and loyalty to friends.
Ralph was the beloved husband of Margaret A. (Amirault) Goff with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.Devoted father of Ralph D. Goff and his wife Patricia of N. Andover and Joyce A. Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St, Melrose on Monday, April 18 at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be held in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose,MA.Visiting hours on Sunday from 2-6 PM.
