Mr. Raymond E. Barnstead, of Wakefield, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at Genesis at Wakefield Center, at age 64.

He was born on May 12, 1949 in Stoneham, one of three children of the late George W. and Edna M. (Carleton) Barnstead.He was raised and educated in Melrose. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.Ray worked for many years for Charles George Disposal Co.

Ray's interests included playing and watching hockey.He loved ice skating, watching the Red Sox and Bruins, and loved cats.

Ray was the loving brother of Carol M. Barnstead of Melrose, and Karl W. Barnstead and his wife Pam of Danvers.Cherished nephew of Barbara Graves of Stoneham.Dear uncle of Michael and Amanda Barnstead, both of Danvers.The family wishes to thank friends and staff at Mt. Ida Rest Home in Newton, and the Oncologists and Staff at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton.

Relatives and friends will in honor and remember Ray's life at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, April 26 at 12:30 PM.Interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.Gifts in Ray's honor to the Melrose Humane Society, PO Box 760668, Melrose, MA 02176.
