Remigio Acbang Capan, devoted family man, life-long tennis fan and engineer, peacefully died on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022.
Remigio Acbang Capan was born on October 1st, 1943 in the beautiful, oceanside town of Lian, Batangas, Philippines to Julian Capan and Carmen (Acbang) Capan.He was the third of four children.Growing up in the Philippines, Remigio loved playing sports, especially basketball and tennis.He had the gift of a beautiful singing voice and joined many amateur singing competitions in his hometown.
Remigio was also an avid STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) enthusiast and pursued electrical engineering as his major, while in college in Manila.He graduated with honor and distinction from National University of the Philippines and excelled in his electrical engineering board exam.
Over the years, Remigio helped set up electrical transformers in many provinces across the Philippines.He also briefly worked in Saudi Arabia before coming back to the Philippines to open his own private consulting practice.
Remigio was the beloved husband of Ligaya (Resultay) Capan with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.The couple had two lovely children.
Remigio and his family lived happily inside the University of Philippines campus until the family immigrated to the United States in 1991. They called Waltham, Massachusetts home for many years until they moved to Melrose, Massachusetts in 2015.
Remigio had many interests. He had a life-long love affair with sports of all kinds - from football to tennis to soccer.His interests included history, geography, music, film and travel.His house was always filled with music and the sound of Remigio's beautiful singing voice.
Above all, Remigio was a devoted family man and went the extra mile for those he loved.Remigio was a kind, doting, caring, supportive and loving father and grandfather. He happily spent hours reading, playing and laughing with his grandchildren.
Remigio is survived by wife, Ligaya, their children and spouses, two grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
At this time services for Remigio will remain private.
