Richard A. DiCarlo

Richard A. DiCarlo, a longtime resident of Malden and Melrose, passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 25, 2023. He was 71.

Born in Melrose on September 19, 1951, Richard was one of 7 children of the late Victor A. DiCarlo and the late Anne M. Longo-DiCarlo. He spent his early childhood years in Melrose and graduated from Malden High School in 1970.

Family was all important in Richy’s life.  He was deeply devoted to his children and grandchildren and was very active in their lives.  He was most at ease when in the company of his children and grandchildren and always enjoyed sharing Chinese food with all of them. He always looked forward to spending time with his parents, siblings, and other family members as well.

Outside of family, Richard was a big fan of the Boston sports teams, with the Red Sox being his favorite.  He was also an avid runner, walker and enjoyed working out at his gym. If, for some reason, you were unable to get in touch with Richy that meant he was still at the gym!

Richard’s generosity, big heart, and great sense of humor will be missed by all blessed to know and love him. His biggest thrill was making other people laugh.

Beloved father of Amanda Sullivan and her husband Ryan of Saugus, Matthew DiCarlo of Beverly, Brianna DiCarlo of Haverhill and her partner Alex Sullivan, and Danielle Hamill and her husband Christopher of Georgetown. Cherished grandfather of Alanah, Ella, Jack, Abigail, Liam, Daisy and Calvin.

Devoted brother of Joseph DiCarlo and his wife Michelle, Nancy Lessard and her husband Kert, Peter DiCarlo, Paul DiCarlo, Donald DiCarlo and his wife Christina, and the late Victor A. DiCarlo. Former husband of Donna Lessard DiCarlo of Beverly. Richy is also survived by many loving nieces & nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Richie’s life during Visiting Hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Sunday, July 30 from 2-6pm, and again on Monday for his Funeral Service celebrated at 10am. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
