Richard J. "Richie" Gambone

Richard Jay Gambone, recently of Reading, passed away quietly on Wednesday afternoon October 23, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family, his housemates and his friends. He was 57.

Richard was born on September 10, 1956 in Melrose, one of four sons of the late Arthur L. Gambone and Nancy G. (DeVita) Gambone.

Richie, as he was affectionately known, loved music and he loved to dance.He made friends everywhere he went and was always ready to share a smile or a joke.Until recently, he was a proud athlete in the Special Olympics, and enjoyed an active lifestyle.He also loved a good chicken parm.

He was a member of the EMARC family and love spending time with his housemates, friends and staff.Richie was a long time employee at Friendly's in Stoneham until his retirement in 2004. Richie attended Shore Collaborative where he had many friends.

The youngest of four children, he is survived by his brothers Robert L. Gambone of Stillwater, MN, David M. Gambone of Lexington, and Philip A. Gambone of Boston.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor of Richie's life at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Sunday, October 27 at 9:30 AM.Interment will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
