Rita (Morris) Hildreth, 88, died in Winchester at The Gables on Tuesday September 19, 2006. She was born in Arlington, MA, October 13, 1917, daughter of Thomas Morris and Nellie (Keefe) Morris.
Mrs. Hildreth was a graduate of Arlington High School and Salem State Teachers College receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.
She was a teacher in the Everett and Arlington Schools during the years of World War II. Later she taught in Saugus retiring in 1981. After her retirement she volunteered at the Winthrop School in Melrose.
She was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association, the Retired State County and Municipal Employees Association, the Melrose Woman's Club, and the Melrose Public Library Volunteers.
Rita was the beloved wife of the late Richard L. Hildreth.Loving mother of Richard L. Hildreth, Jr. and his wife Gloria of Clifton, VA and Robert J. Hildreth and his wife Diane of Weston. Sister of the late Helen Wright, Lillian Daniele, Gertrude Jennings, and Frederick Morris. Cherished grandmother of Julie, Richard and Matthew, all of Clifton, VA and Anne, Benjamin and Rebecca all of Weston. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
